Fairmount students participated in the second annual Change Challenge this week to raise money for our Care Closet, and the results were incredible! We are deeply grateful for the amazing participation and generosity shown by our students and families. It was a wonderful reminder that small things can make a BIG difference when a community comes together. We are so proud of our Falcons! #WeAreBangor

The Bangor Region Y has received a special grant to ensure all children are able to experience the magic of summer camp. This grant will help provide scholarships and financial assistance to families at both their Day Camps—Camp G Peirce Webber and Camp Acorn, as well as their overnight camp—Camp Jordan. Fairmount’s Falcon Council organized a fun and cozy 3rd Quarter Celebration on Friday, April 3, with a PJ and Stuffie Day! Students enjoyed coming to school in their pajamas and bringing along their favorite stuffed animals, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the building. Stuffies were issued a visitor’s bag in the form of a PAW necklace for students to wear and keep as a reminder of their outstanding SOARing behavior. Events like these highlight the power of community and give students something to feel proud of and excited about. A big thank you to Falcon Council for planning such a memorable celebration!

Big News from the Fairmount 21st Century Club SOAR Store! Our incredible students have chosen to use their third-quarter profits to purchase snacks for every homeroom in the building! What an amazing act of generosity and community-minded thinking.

We could not be prouder of them. The decision to use their profits to provide snacks speaks volumes about their character. They truly embody what it means to SOAR — being Safe, Open-Minded, Accountable, and Respectful. Moments like this remind us that we are nurturing empathy, leadership, and community spirit.

On Friday, students at 14th Street and Fairmount Schools were treated to a presentation by Josh Sparks from Sparks' Ark. In four highly engaging and informative 45-minute assemblies, Mr. Sparks showed students a sugar glider, chinchilla, hedgehog, dragon (you read that right), tortoise, barred owl, and boa constrictor. Mr. Sparks shared interesting information about each species (e.g., sugar gliders love Craisins, chinchillas give off fur when under attack to trick predators, owls can move their heads but not their eyes, etc.), while also regaling students with stories about each particular animal's rescue history. #WeAreBangor
