Program Director: Jessica White
The 21st-Century program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. The program helps students meet state and local academic standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
For more information about the program, email Jessica White at jwhite@bangorschools.net
How It Works
Students who have completed the registration form may choose from activities offered AFTER school Monday – Thursday (3:00 – 4:15), and BEFORE school Monday – Friday (8:00am – 8:45am).
Buses are available to bring students home at 4:15, however, students who wish to participate in the mornings will need to be dropped off.
Registration
Registration forms can be found in the paperwork folder sent home on the first day. Students MUST have registration form completed in order to sign up for activities.
Fee
There is no fee to participate! If you’d like to donate, you can make a check payable to “Bangor School Department” with “Fairmount 21CCLC” in the memo section, and send it in to Fairmount or mail it directly to: Bangor School Department Business Office, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor ME 04401.
Club Hours
Morning Clubs will meet from 8:00 to 8:45.
Afternoon clubs will meet from 3:00 pm until 4:15 pm.
Snack

Behavior
Students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately. If something is not okay at school, it is not okay during clubs.
Specifically students should:
Use appropriate language
Show kindness and respect at all times
Follow directions and requests from staff
Students who fail to adhere to our behavior standards may be removed from the program.
Parent Volunteers Needed!
VOLUNTEER! Adults, do you have a hobby or interests you could share with our students? By volunteering for after-school clubs, parents not only contribute to the development of their own children but also foster a sense of community and collaboration within the school environment, creating a positive impact on all participating students!
A 15-minute volunteer training will be offered at open house, or by appointment with the Director. Volunteer training must be completed once each school year in order to volunteer in any of our schools. Don’t wait! Volunteer applications can take up to a week to process.
Sustainability Board
JOIN OUR SUSTAINABILITY BOARD! Maybe you don’t have time to commit to a weekly club. That’s okay! Join our sustainability board to stay on top of everything that is happening with our program and to create ways to expand the services to our students. We meet for about an hour each quarter!
